OII now available in Chinese

We are proud to announce that the Organisation Intersex International has its website in Chinese thanks to the tremendous efforts of one of our Chinese speaking board members. The site already contains our Official Positions, our mission statement, information on Intersex Solidarity Day, a translation of 10 Misconceptions about Intersexuality, videos and a news service containing articles related to intersex issues.

We also have posters for intersex children in Chinese and are working closely to combine our two sites so that Chinese speaking visitors will feel at home and included when visiting our other language sections.

This is an important step forward for OII because of the large population which speaks Chinese around the world.

If you have friends or acquaintances who speak Chinese, please let them know about out new Chinese website. You will find a link to it on our home page at the top.

Just click on the Chinese characters.

For more information about intersex issues in the Chinese speaking community, please contact our board member Hiker who is fluent in English and Chinese.

For a complete list of board members:

We have libraries in many languages and an audiovisual library in English, French, Spanish, German, and Chinese.

Any transgender person in the United Kingdom, especially young people, should avoid the Portman Clinic at all costs. They are as bad or worse than the CAMH Clarke Institute in Canada, widely considered the worst of the worst in terms of eugenic-oriented mental institutions that treat gender-variant people as criminals.

Increased Estrogen Rather Than Decreased Androgen Action Is Associated with Longer Androgen Receptor CAG Repeats

Excerpt: The correlations of this polymorphism with various endocrine and phenotypic features of men have been exhaustively studied. Many, though not all of these studies, demonstrate inverse correlation of the repeat length with androgenicity, suggesting that men with longer repeats have weaker overall androgen action. The phenotypes found to correlate directly with the CAG repeat length include poor spermatogenesis and male-to-female transsexualism.

THE ANDROGYNE (The Third Gender Classification)

An androgyne in terms of gender identity, is a person who does not fit cleanly into the typical masculine and feminine gender roles of their society. They may also use the term ambigender to describe themselves. Many androgynies identify as being mentally "between" woman and man, or as entirely genderless. They may class themselves as non-gendered, gender-neutral, a gendered, between genders, Inter gendered, bi gendered or, gender fluid.

Androgyne was once used as a synonym for hermaphrodite, a term since replaced by the word inter sex.

Prof. Sandra Bem's work on androgyny preceded the current widespread use of the term as a gender identity, and uses the term more in terms of character traits than core gender identity. She considers an androgynous balance of traits to be desirable, stating that those who are able to draw on both traditionally masculine and feminine emotions and behaviors are best able to cope with life's challenges in a well-rounded way.
