  1. IMHO - Commissioner, Paul Mason's introduction of an intermediary, namely the Family Court, is a significant step forward.

    It does have the effect of taking the surgical decision away from the pathologizing medical model on the one hand, and socially and culturally constructed imperitives that motivate the parents.

    The Commissioner also explores the potential avenues for legal action if the decision is made without judicial approval.

    I think Paul Mason has done a better job than the Federal Australian Human Rights Commissioner, who was totally out of his depth when confronted with issues of biological diversity in sex formation.

    Yes, its only one small Australian state - but watch the effects ripple out.

    Finally, Congratulations go to OII Australia (and OII in general) for their hard work and eventual influence.
